We've come a long way in 2 short months. Addison is 3lbs. 4oz. and has been in room air on 2 litres on the high flow and only had one small event this morning. He didn't have much interest in the bottle for the nurses and I was unable to wake him tonight to try and nurse.
Riley is 2lbs. 8.8oz. and also in room air on 2 litres. He has not had any events. He took 16 of his 27cc this morning and he took 11cc for me tonight. He was trying to nurse and we tried using a nipple shield but that didn't seem to help much. After trying to nurse, he happily took his bottle. You could tell that he wanted to take an oral feeding.
Ian and his parents completed the infant cpr class. It's one of the required things you have to do before discharge. I'll be heading in with my mom sometime this week.
The zantac seems to be helping a lot with their reflux. Since they started, they've only been having 1 or 2 events per day. Their nurse tonight mentioned that they may try to turn down their high flow to 1 litre tomorrow.

They are filling out so beautifully!! Thank you for sharing so many pictures! I love seeing the sweet little hand and fingers... so precious! :)
One memorable photo we had of our daughter was putting Daddy's wedding ring on her arm. We'd put it on a couple times; the first time, it was so loose, we slid it all the way up to her shoulder! The 2nd time, when we actually took the photo, it was a little snug going over her hand and it stayed just on the lower part of her arm... I think she was around 2 or 2 1/2 lbs then.
The other photo that has become such a "wow" to look back on was taken at about 3 wks. Someone had given us a little bunny, that when you stretch the ears out is about 10 inches long. Our sweetie was 11 inches. One day she was laying on her side, we put the bunny in front of her with her arm around it and got a cute shot. Then, every year since then, we take a picture of her with it for comparison. Now, I hold that teeny tiny bunny in my hand, and am AMAZED that she was close to that size!!! As time passes, it really is easy to forget how small they started out!
So it sounds like both sets of parents are close by? That is so awesome for you... be extra thankful!! My mom passed away the year before my miracle was born, and my in-laws had moved a few states away, and it was difficult to deal with. Be extra thankful for them, give them lots of hugs & kisses (you need them, too!), and constantly tell them how much you appreciate them! :)
Thanks again for writing so faithfully; I'm praying for you!
Blessings,
Katie
Find out when they are going to do their car seat/bed trials (it might not be until discharge day since they are still getting breathing help). It makes for great pictures! AJU5 went through 4 of them - with oxygen (passed), two tries without oxygen (barely failed), and a final with oxygen (passed). Praying that today's feedings will be great!
