I've had one of the worst days I've had in a while. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. I finally left to go to the hospital and the traffic on the highway was at a standstill. I skipped that adventure and tried to go through the city. All backed up. I ended up going almost 20 miles out of my way to get to the hospital. As much as a pain in the rear as it was, the highway was shut down due to a tractor trailer that has jack-knifed and spilled fuel. All of the side roads were backed up as well so by going through the boonies and out of my way, I made it there in just under 30 minutes.
I get in and the nurse is standing there, holding Addison, and waiting for me to nurse him. Then my night got worse. She told me that she gave him formula! I freaked out. I've got over 1500 ounces of milk in a freezer I bought specifically for the milk. I pump more than 40oz. per day and I'm only 10-15 minutes (when there's not an accident) from the hospital. He apparently got formula yesterday too. He still has his feeding tube in but she said he wanted to orally eat. She gave the same milk that Addison refused, to Riley, and he took the whole bottle. I'm so upset about this. I told them that they are not to get formula but they can't write that on the chart without the doctors permission.
So, now that I've got that out of the way. The boys are doing well. They both gained a little bit of weight. They've been taking more than half of their feedings by mouth and Addison only had one event today and that was right after their eye exams.
They got their eye exams early this morning because when I called to check on them at 7:30am, they had already had them. Riley was diagnosed with stage 1 ROP (retinopathy of prematurity) and Addison was diagnosed with stage 2. They'll get a follow up appointment in 1 week to see if it's progressed at all. They won't do laser surgery to correct it until it reaches a late stage 3 or stage 4. I had some questions about everything but the doctor wasn't available for me to talk to so we'll see if I can get some questions answered when I go back in tonight.
So, that's my update for now.

I am so sorry they didn't follow your wishes. They should have requested the order. It's as simple as sending a message or putting a note on the front of the chart.
It does sound like things were very hard on you today. I hope tomorrow brings a much easier day.
Remember...I am close by and willing to help you with things you may need. I can go to the market for you, bake for you (even special requests because I know you eat healthier then we do), do some laundry (yes I will wash your cloths and fold them...I don't even do that here). Seriously though...I would love to help in anyway possible. You need a break and I would love to help you get one...even if it's something small.
Praying last night's visit went better! Hopefully they can put orders in so they get only breastmilk (or fortified breastmilk).
Our hospital here was always good about giving breastmilk before formula - even if there wasn't enough for a full feeding. They would just do two bottles if necessary.
I have been following your journals about the boys, and praying for them. They are adorable, and I'm so happy to see they are improving and growing stronger every day.
The boys are very lucky to have such a great mom. When times get tough, I will think of you because you are an inspiration to mothers everywhere.
